Ski Tour Weekend with Mountain Guide

LadiesCamps offer a unique skiing experience, ski touring in the Alps. Ski touring offers you the opportunity experience the beauty of the Alps beyond the ski resorts and the groomed pistes. We walk uphill to a mountain pass or a mountain top, take a well-deserved lunch before we go down snow-covered slopes few have set foot upon. Ski touring, or randonnee, opens a world of new skiing experiences.

The starting point

To be in the right spot at the right moment is the key to good off-piste skiing. We start the Ultimate Ski Tour at the Cointrin airport in Geneva, right at the heart of the Alpes. Depending on weather conditions and snow forecast we hit the road to find the best conditions. Likely spots include the Aosta valley in Italy with, in the order of, ten ski resorts. La Grave in France offers anything and everything between steep couloirs to fantastic skiing in the forest. In Switzerland we choose between ski resorts like Zermatt, Grimentz, Ovronnaz, Les Diablerets in the western part of the country and Engelberg, Lenzerhide, Davos, St Moritz in the eastern part of the country. From Geneva we can easily reach literally hundreds of resorts. We try to minimize the road transports, but are prepared to drive a while to find the best conditions.

Our guides have over 10 years’ experience in seeking out the best powder spots. We tend to prefer the smaller resorts, since the fresh powder snow lasts longer, queues are shorter and the atmosphere is friendlier in smaller resorts.

Memories for life

To help you remember your trip there are a number of GoPro head-cams you can borrow, We will also takes lots of pictures to enjoy back at home.

Ski touring

Ski touring offers you the opportunity experience the beauty of the Alps beyond the ski resorts and the groomed pistes. We walk uphill to a mountain pass or a mountain top, take a well-deserved lunch before we go down snow-covered slopes few have set foot upon. Ski touring opens a world of new skiing experiences. Our guides will also give you advice on how to trek around the mountains the best way as well as improving your free-ride skills.

Your ability

To participate you need to be a rather accomplished skier, comfortably skiing down all slopes, from green to black. You have tried off-piste skiing before, and perhaps also ski touring. Ski touring means that we walk uphill with skis and a backpack so you must be fit enough to be able to walk for a few hours. If you are uncertain if you meet the requirements don’t hesitate to contact us.

Group size

We want to be 4-6 persons per guide, striving to put together groups with the same ability level.

Accommodation

Since our focus is to be on the right spot on the right time accommodation chosen accordingly. We stay in good smaller hotels** or in apartments. Our guides have good local knowledge and seek out nice places to stay. We usually share rooms with one, or a few, new friends. It is likely that we will spend a night or two in a mountain cabin, a unique experience!

Travel

The Ski Tour starts with a pick-up on Cointrin, the Geneva airport, at 15.00 on Wednesday and ends at the airport on Sunday at 20.00. You book your own connection to the airport. Note that there is a train station at the airport.

Included

Note that the travel arrangements to Geneva airport, lunches, dinners, and the mandatory insurance are not included.

Mandatory equipment

Choose medium-wide (recommendation 85-110 mm waist) off-piste skis with a touring binding (Diamir, Marker, Dynafit, etc.). We recommend that you avoid the more extreme narrow and lightweight alpine touring equipment, since it is more difficult handle going down. If you don’t have your own equipment you can rent that. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Safety equipment

We cooperate with the certified mountain guide Mike Wright and his team. If you don’t have your own safety equipment we will lend you what you need. Should you have an avalanche transceiver, a probe, and a shovel you can bring that.
